Follow one landscape designer from the first call to the day the garden is finished. Every feature, in the right order.
It starts in the van. You have an appointment in fifteen minutes. Your phone is in your pocket and the Dreamscape app is installed. That is genuinely all you need — right now.
Before you knock on the door, open the Dreamscape app and start a new Client Brief. As you walk the garden with the client, work through our 7-section form: their vision, the style they love, the features they want, practical needs (children, pets, maintenance level), budget range, site conditions, and your own private notes — all saved instantly to the app. No paper, no scribbled notepad to lose on the drive home.
Measurements are everything. Ask if your client has an existing ground plan — a land registry plan, an architect's drawing, a builder's survey. If they do not, take your own before you leave: the outer boundary of the project, the footprint of the house with doors and windows, any existing features you are keeping, and every significant change in level with approximate heights.
If you have a tablet with you, open the Sketch Plan Editor directly on site — it is designed to be lightweight and fast and you can sketch an accurate outline of the space in minutes. Getting into the habit of drawing on site eliminates the classic mistake of forgetting a critical measurement. Do not leave without the brief fully filled in and the measurements in your hands. With those two things, everything that follows is straightforward.
Back at your desk with a completed brief and your measurements, open the Sketch Plan Editor — a professional CAD drawing tool built specifically for landscape designers, but without the learning curve. Architectural CAD software takes years of study to become competent. Dreamscape's Sketch Plan takes around four hours to master — maximum. The reason is deliberate: we stripped out everything you do not need. Every feature in here serves one purpose — drawing a garden plan. Nothing more. The tool is built around common sense: simple point-to-point drawing, point and drag, click to close a shape. That is it. No hand-drawing plans on paper ever again, no scanning sketches, no photographing napkin drawings. If you can tap a screen, you can draw a professional garden plan.
Set the canvas scale to your measurements, draw the boundary, the house footprint, doors, windows, existing paths and structures. Then layer the design on top: planting zones, new paving, water features, pergolas, fencing. Use the legend panel to name every element and set the stacking order so paving sits below plants and plants above ground cover — exactly as they will appear in the real garden. The brief you collected on site is right there alongside your drawing — everything in one place, nothing lost.
When to invite your client into Dreamscape is a judgement call, but the moments to do it are numerous. You can invite them at the very first appointment if you sense real enthusiasm — go for it. It costs nothing and the upside is significant. If your client has a Dreamscape account, you can work together online in real time. The app is designed entirely around sharing: your client has direct access to the plan and can look at it, comment on it, or participate in their own design in their own time. A session in the online CHAT together — looking at the sketch on the same screen from different locations — can replace a second site visit entirely. No need to drive back out. None of this is compulsory; some clients prefer to wait and see the finished proposal. But when a client is engaged and wants to be involved, the shared workspace is where that energy goes — and projects with engaged clients close faster and run more smoothly. Every save is time-stamped automatically throughout, creating a permanent audit trail that protects both parties. If your company has a dedicated designer, this is also the natural hand-off point: you sketched on site, they open the same plan in the Garden Designer and trace directly over it in the studio. The Sketch Plan and the Garden Designer were designed from the start to work together, back and forward.
Now — a question you will ask: if I already drew a sketch plan, why do I trace over it again in the full Garden Designer? The answer is architecture. The Sketch Plan is a fast, lightweight drawing tool — built for speed on site and in early planning. The Garden Designer is an entirely different engine. Every element you place there is not a line on a plan — it is a full procedural 3D building model. Your fence is a real fence with posts, panels, height and material texture. Your house has a roof pitch, guttering, and shadows that move with the sun across the day. Your plants are displayed in the 3D view using the real photographs from your own company database — no 3D plant packs to buy, no third-party assets required. Any plant anywhere in the world can be added to Dreamscape simply by photographing it and letting the AI do the rest. Every ground cover zone generates a real 3D surface. All of this data — every dimension, every plant, every material, every cost — feeds directly into the Pitch Deck PDF: front elevation, side elevation, aerial 3D view, full planting palette with pricing, and complete cost breakdown. The sketch was the blueprint. The Designer is the construction. Complete the five steps in the Designer and you are in a winning position — with a proposal no client can say no to.
Send your sketch to the Garden Designer as a transparent overlay. Place plants from your company database — this is not a generic library. The plants in this panel are your stock: the species you actually sell, with your own photographs, your own quantities, and your own pricing. Setting up the database takes a few hours — a Sunday afternoon is usually enough — and it is now AI-assisted: drag a photograph of any plant onto the upload area and the app reads it, identifies the species, and auto-fills the entire data form. Name, variety, care requirements, mature size — done for you. Review it, adjust where needed, save. Do that for your full stock list once and you are set up for years. You can add new plants or update pricing at any time, and every change takes seconds.
Why does this matter when you are designing? Because the moment you drag a plant from the panel on the left into your garden, the cost is added to the running total automatically. No spreadsheet. No calculator. No copying numbers from a price list. Place twenty hornbeam hedging plants along the boundary and the total updates instantly. When you generate the Pitch Deck, the summary page shows the full planting list with quantities, unit prices, and totals — all calculated automatically from your database, all matching exactly what you sell at the prices you charge. Those few hours you spent filling in the database pay back on every single project from that point on.
Draw ground cover across zones: lawn, gravel, bark, paving. Add structures: raised beds, water features, pergolas, garden rooms. Garden features are priced in the cost summary section manually — you enter your own labour, materials and any other line items exactly as you quote them, giving you complete control over every cost.
Then click View in 3D. Your entire plan — every plant, every structure, every path — becomes a fully rendered 3D garden. This was the promise from the beginning: no 3D skills required. And here it is — the 2D plan you drew point by point is now a complete, professional 360° viewer. You built that. No 3D modelling tools, no technical training, no outside software. One click, and you have just produced something most designers would be proud of.
Share this with your client right now as a teaser — they will be amazed. And when they share it on their own social media, your company name and logo travel with it. That is free marketing that your own work creates for you.
Now share the full 3D experience with your client — this part is built for them, not for you. You already know what the garden looks like. They will walk through it in first-person, watch the sun move across the sky, turn on the rain, spin the garden 360°. They will play with it for an hour. And then they will share it on their social media — their future garden, live on their Instagram or Facebook, rendering perfectly on a mobile phone. That is free marketing you cannot pay for, and it happens naturally because the experience is genuinely fun.
Use the Garden Visualiser to go one step further: composite your planting scheme directly onto a real photograph of the actual garden. Your client sees their own space transformed, not a generic render. This is the image that closes deals before the pitch deck is even opened.
You have the brief, the sketch plan, and the 3D render. Now share it all. Send your client a link to view everything on their phone or tablet.
When they are ready to move forward, they sign digitally. Before you see how simple that is, think about what a signature used to require: you email the document, your client downloads it, opens it, prints it, signs it by hand, scans it — or photographs it if they do not own a scanner — then emails it back to you. At every step there is a delay, a friction point, and a reason for the client to put it aside until tomorrow. The whole process can take days. Each day is a day they might change their mind.
With Dreamscape's digital signature the client receives the link, reads the document on their phone, and taps to sign — at the kitchen table, in the garden, from anywhere in the world — in under three minutes from the moment you send it. The signature is cryptographically verified and date-stamped, and is legally equivalent to a handwritten signature in most jurisdictions. You both receive a signed copy automatically, stored in the project. The whole back-and-forth is gone.
This is the moment to confirm a deposit and officially open the account. The project starts now.
When you click Generate Pitch Deck, the result looks impressive — but it is not a magic button that writes a convincing PDF from nothing. It works because of everything you have done in every step before this one.
The client brief you filled in on site becomes the project overview and vision statement. The sketch plan becomes the design overview page. The plant palette you selected in the Designer — with your own pricing applied — becomes an illustrated planting guide: real photographs, quantities, and costs per species. The 3D models the engine built automatically become the proposal visuals: front elevation, side elevation, aerial view, and your Garden Visualiser composite on the first page. The plant costs calculated automatically from your database, combined with the garden feature costs and labour you entered manually in the summary section, become the full itemised quote. If you used a drone survey layer, it has its own page. All of it branded with your company logo.
This is the power of keeping everything in one place from the very first conversation. The data flows forward through every step. Fill in the brief properly — better overview. Add every plant with the correct quantities — complete planting list. Spend time in the Visualiser — the client sees their own garden on page one. The more thoroughly you used each tool, the richer and more persuasive the final document. There is no shortcut and there does not need to be: follow the workflow and the Pitch Deck closes the deal for you.
Dreamscape stays with you after the client signs. The Team Hub is your visual project management workspace. Create a project board linked directly to this client's sketch plan. Assign tasks to team members — paving day, planting, irrigation, final tidy — set dependencies so tasks run in the right order, and track progress against your timeline. Share updates with the client directly through the platform.
Every document in the project — the brief, the sketch plan, the planting list, the quote, the signed agreement — is linked, traceable, and shareable with the client at any point. No jobs running on WhatsApp group chats. No missing orders. No 'who was supposed to book the plant delivery?' Everything organised from the very first conversation.
This is what separates a professional landscape company from the rest: the client experience starts when you walk through their gate and open the app, not when the digger arrives. The organisation you build into every project from day one is visible in the work you deliver and the documents your client holds in their hands throughout.
The garden is finished. Take a before-and-after photograph. Post it in Garden Moments — the community feed where the best transformations get seen by thousands of gardeners and future clients. Write a project story in the Blog to showcase your expertise and improve your search visibility. Use Creator Studio to record a short video walkthrough of the finished garden and broadcast it to your entire client base in one click — three free premieres included.
Use the AI Studio to generate project write-ups, blog posts, and social media captions from your brief notes in seconds — professional content without the time investment. One great project, shared well in the right places, brings the next three enquiries without a single advertising budget.
Not a professional? No problem. Dreamscape's core garden designer is completely free for personal use. No design experience, no 3D skills, no learning curve.
Click to plot the exact shape and size of your garden on the real-world grid. Everything is in metres so your plan is to scale from the very first click. Use Snap ON for precise right-angle corners, or draw freehand for natural, organic shapes.
Draw your house footprint, garage, driveway, patio, fences and paths. Every structure automatically becomes a full 3D model when you switch to the 3D view — roofs, textures, doors and all. No technical skills required at any point.
Fill zones with grass, gravel, mulch, paving or flowerbeds. Choose from the global library of materials and surfaces. Costs are calculated in real time as you design so you always know your budget before you spend anything.
Drag plants from the library onto your plan. Drop more than four of the same species and the smart auto-fill tool scatters dozens instantly in a natural organic pattern. Every plant carries its real photograph, care guide and mature size.
Click View in 3D at any point for an instant full render. Walk through your garden in first-person, change the time of day, add rain, rotate 360°. Then use the Garden Visualiser to composite your planting scheme directly onto a real photograph of your garden — the most powerful way to show anyone what you have planned before anything is planted.
Export a professional PDF with your full plant list, materials and cost estimate. Share a link with family, your partner or a landscape company. Post your design or 3D render in Garden Moments to get feedback and inspiration from the Dreamscape community.
The best approach, if you intend to hire a professional, is to find your local landscape company on the Dreamscape company map before you start designing. Connect with them first, and once linked you can design using their actual plant database — their real stock, their real pricing. Everything in your summary will then be accurate from the start, and they can take your plan and work directly from it.
If you prefer to design independently using the global plant database, you can absolutely do that too — and you will still get a full summary page with quantities and a plant list. However, the pricing in the global database is an estimate only. Real costs at your local nursery or landscape company may be higher or lower depending on where you are and what is available. You can export and print your shopping list, take it to your local nursery, and source the plants yourself. Just be aware that the total shown is indicative — it gives you a useful planning figure, but it is not a firm quote.
